In ptosis correction, what matters most is not how large the eyes appear, but which structures need support and to what extent. The strength of the eyelid-lifting muscles, the weight of the eyelid, how much of the eye is visible, and the role the eyes play in facial expression must all be considered together. When these considerations are overlooked and the emphasis is placed solely on size, the eyes can appear tense, surprised, or lacking freshness.
After surgery, the first change patients usually notice is not that their eyes look bigger, but that opening their eyes feels easier. As the eyes open more naturally and the pupils become clearer, the overall expression appears brighter and more refreshed. Ptosis correction achieves the best results when improved eye openness is balanced with comfort and ease of movement.
Ptosis correction can help if you have sleepy-looking eyes, drooping eyelids, monolids that appear heavy, multiple unwanted folds, or eyes that appear small due to short vertical height. It is particularly effective when more than half of the pupil is covered.
Double eyelid surgery creates an eyelid crease, whereas ptosis correction functionally adjusts the eyelid-lifting mechanism itself. The procedures can be performed together, but for natural definition and long-lasting results, ptosis correction provides a more stable and harmonious outcome.
If eyelid lifting strength is mildly reduced, non-incisional surgery is suitable. For moderate to severe cases involving muscle, fat, or skin sagging, incisional surgery is preferred.
Non-incisional procedures generally settle within 3–7 days, while incisional surgery allows return to daily life in 1–2 weeks. The final, stable shape of the eyes develops gradually over 1–3 months.
We do not aim to make the eyes look overly wide. Instead, we carefully consider how the eyelids move, how the muscles work, and how much of the eye is naturally visible. This approach allows the eyes to look brighter and more defined, while still feeling comfortable and entirely natural.
